Buck Meadows was formerly known as Hamilton’s and Hamilton’s Station. It is located east-northeast of Smith Peak and lies south of the Tuolumne County line. According to the 2010 United States Census, Buck Meadows has a population of 31, but its sign lists 50.

 Just east of the U.S.F.S. Buck Meadows Fire Station, “Rim of the World” overlooks the canyon that contain the South Fork of the Tuolumne River. Further east, is the Stanislaus National Forest picnic area called the “Rainbow Pool.”
